Get Involved

Our goal at the Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) is to ensure that children are not revictimized by the very system designed to protect them. All types of volunteers are needed to help us make the CAC of Adams County work for the children. Listed below are some volunteer opportunities that are flexible and allow for a range of time commitment, abilities, and level of involvement.

Administrative - Volunteers are trained to do general office work including typing, data entry, filing, copying, and publisher projects.

Building and Maintenance - Volunteers will assist with any decorating or repair needs and help keep the CAC beautiful.

Special Needs - Volunteers are needed to be interpreters for children and families that don’t speak fluent English or who speak sign language, or for any other special needs of clients.

Community Outreach / Public Relations - Volunteers are needed to help with the publication of a quarterly newsletter, which will require skills such as layout and design and graphic arts. Volunteers can also assist at our booth/display at the mall, during conferences, or other special events. Volunteers can also become part of a Speaker’s Bureau to increase community awareness through public speaking engagements to civic clubs and other community groups.

Fundraising - Volunteers will assist in a variety of fundraising activities during the year and bring any new fundraising ideas to the CAC.

Other Possibilities - Volunteers are needed to serve in many other capacities, as our center grows!

How Your Gift Helps Children at the ACCAC

Each year, we are thrilled with the generous donations we receive! Thanks to gifts from local businesses, foundations, public agencies and individuals, the CAC is able to offer all of its programs at no cost to children and their families.

Here are some examples of how your gift helps:

$20 purchases play therapy tools such as paints, crayons, dolls and flip chart paper for the Center’s mental health therapy program.

$35 fills up the Center’s kitchen with healthy snacks and beverages for child clients.

$50 gives a child an hour of trauma-focused mental health counseling at the Center.

$100 provides handbooks for 10 adults attending the Center’s Darkness 2 Light workshops on child abuse prevention.

$250 gives non-offending parents/caregivers support while their child is being served by the Center. Support includes direct and consistent communication with the Center’s Clinical Coordinator who provides insight and information about child abuse, its effect on children and families, the roles of each agency involved in the investigation, and the elements needed for healing.

$500 helps fund on-site equipment, aiding the Center medical staff’s specialized assessment of a child. This exam enhances case prosecution and most importantly, gives a child knowledge that their body is healthy so the emotional healing can begin.

$1,000 helps 1 child “unlock” their traumatic stories in a safe environment at the Center with the expertise of a trained forensic interviewer.

Be a hero to our community’s children this fall by making a gift to the CAC!
